Step One: Collect GPS Coordinates
Using the skills gained from the first GPS tech lab, go out into your school yard or community and collect 4-5 coordinates at points of interest. Set these coordinates as waypoints on your device. Name each waypoint so you can identify it later. While at each location use your cell phone to take photos of the site and notes about interesting features. |
Step Two: Transfer Waypoints from GPS to Google Maps
Use the following directions to transfer the waypoints saved in your GPS to a Google Map created in My Maps. |
Step Three: Customize your Google Map with Photos and Text
Add photos and text to the location points created on your Google Map from the download of waypoints. You might want to save your photos in Google Drive in order to access them on your Chromebook.
